Thomas
Yarbrough
Sep 9, 1946 — Jun 28, 2026
Thomas (“Tom”) Harry Yarbrough, 79, of Key West, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Tom was born on September 9, 1946, in Plant City, Florida. He moved to Key West at a young age and graduated from Key West High School in the Class of 1964. He served in the United States Army from June 1968 to April 1972. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Marie. After his military service, they returned to Key West, where they raised their two sons, Jason and Joshua.
Tom’s love for coins and gold led him to own and operate Conch Coin Company by day while working as an IT Specialist at NAS Boca Chica by night. He worked as an IT Specialist from April 1972 until April 2003. He then spent five years as a contractor with EDS before continuing as a contractor with Hewlett Packard until his retirement in August 2012.
Tom was an avid collector of coins, baseball cards, and many other treasures. He spent countless weekends attending coin conventions with his son, Jason, sharing a hobby that brought them both great joy. He also rarely missed an opportunity to support his family, traveling to countless baseball games to cheer on his sons, Jason and Joshua. Above all, Tom’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, Jazlyn and Jason. He proudly followed them as they grew, attending their events and competitions whenever he could and always serving as their biggest fan. Tom also had a deep love of travel. Although he was unable to visit every destination on his bucket list, he was fortunate to explore many places throughout his life and treasured the memories he made along the way. To know Tom was to know a man with an extraordinary knowledge of history and an endless desire to learn and share what he knew. His curiosity, wisdom, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He is survived by his son, Jason (Donnie) Yarbrough; his grandchildren, Jazlyn (Lucy) Yarbrough and Jason Yarbrough; his brothers, Billy Yarbrough, Johnny (Sharon) Yarbrough, and Timmy Yarbrough; his sister-in-law, Sara Acevedo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who became family.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Yarbrough; his son, Joshua Yarbrough; his father, William Yarbrough; and his mother, Janie Yarbrough.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Fifth Street Baptist Church, 1311 Fifth Street, Key West, Florida, with burial immediately following at Key West Cemetery.
His family invites all who knew and loved him to join them in honoring his kind spirit and enduring legacy at the home of Jason and Donnie Yarbrough, 60 Key Haven Road, following the burial.
