Obituary

Michael Jude (Mike) Brady passed away peacefully on May 14th at a Key West Hospital after suffering with a debilitating illness for six months. He was 82 years old.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, brothers Jack Brady in Lake Suzy, Fl and Patrick Brady in Attleboro, MA, niece and nephew Sharon and Patrick Brady here in Key West and several other nieces and nephews in other parts of the country.

Mike was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI in 1941. After graduating from Tolman High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with honor in Germany during the height of the Cold War. He returned home and began his career on the Pawtucket Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant.  While on the fire department, Mike attended Providence College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

After leaving the fire department, Mike became the assistant director of safety at the University of Rhode Island, once again employing his skills to ensure the well-being of others.  He then moved to Twin Mountain, NH where he and his wife Betty owned and operated a motel and antique shop for several years. Mike was an avid skier. When he finally had had enough of the cold weather, he and Betty moved to Key West and became solid citizens in The Conch Republic.  He will be especially missed by his large circle of friends at the Anchors Aweigh Club in Key West.

A memorial service for Mike at the Anchors Aweigh Club is being planned for some time in the near future.
