Marie Therese Alphonse, lovingly known as 'Tala' was born on March 6, 1952, in Aux Cayes, Haiti to her devoted parents, Deau Donne Alphonse and Anita Leger.
As the eldest of four siblings, Marie was a natural-born leader, a role she embraced with love and care. She shared a lifelong bond with her younger siblings, Betta, Bella and Jean. Marie was the proud mother of two children: Nicole Yvorse Bateau and her son Pierre Velma, whom she loved dearly. Her love and guidance helped to shape and guide their lives.
A woman of deep faith, Marie lived as a devoted Servant of God, reflecting her unwavering belief and commitment throughout her life.
Marie was a woman of many talents and passions. She worked in law enforcement in Haiti, where she carried out her duties with dedication. strength and integrity, earning the respect of her colleagues and community. Outside of her professional life, Marie had an extraordinary love for cooking. Known for her delicious meals, she delighted in bringing her family together around the table, filling their home with warmth, love and the irresistible aroma of her carefully prepared dishes. Cooking was her love language, and her food was a source of comfort and joy to everyone who tasted it.
Marie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was cherished deeply by all who knew her, and her kindness, wisdom and strength left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
On December 13, 2024, Marie peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family. Marie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her daughter, Nicole; her granddaughters, Ruth, Rachelle and Nevaeh; her siblings, family and friends, as they remember her love, her laughter, her incredible meals, and the light she brought into their lives.
