Julia Augusta Lang was born the oldest of six children into the family of the late David Eugene Gallagher and the late Rosena Thompson Gallagher on July 18th, 1936. Julia Augusta Lang was affectionately called grandma or "Mama Julia".
Julia attended Douglas High School and was an active basketball player. She enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Julia was employed with the Monroe County Public Works Department until retirement. After a brief retirement Julia re-established employment with Key West International Airport Services and then onto Walgreens.
She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. During her time in Tampa, FL. She also attended St. Matthews Anglican Church in which she was a part of the St. Ann's Guild and Alter Guile Ministry. Every day was Sunday!
Julia was a caring, loving, hardworking, wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, and nana. She loved to cook and share food among all who asked. Most of all, she was a dear friend to many and will be missed dearly.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents: David Eugene Gallagher and Rosena Thompson Gallagher; her late brothers: Carlton Dennis Gallagher and William Gallagher Sr.; her husband Albert Lang Jr.; her sons: Bradley Cecil Bailey, Cedric Antonio Lang, and stepson Marvin Albert Lang; and a stepdaughter, Diane McIntyre.
Julia departed this life on Saturday, May 27th, 2023. She lived a full life, full of joy and laughter! She was also a spark of fire and would share a few choice words when needed.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Helen (Richard) Peoples of Augusta GA; Pamela (Ruben) Sanchez of Key West, FL; Rosena (Anthony Jr.) Castillo of Tampa, FL; Sabrina (Eric Sr.) Hall of Key West, FL; stepson Hillard (Sharon) Lang of Savannah, GA; and stepdaughter Mona (James) Holmes of Miami, FL; her sisters: Veronica Taylor, Jennifer Winters and Marilyn Gallagher; a devoted sister-in-law Patricia Gallagher of Key West, Florida.
Grandchildren: Rodger (Andrea) Bailey of Tallahassee, FL., Teshia (Dennis) Walker and Michael Walker both of Augusta, GA; Shawn Bailey and Gerald Billingsley Jr. of Key West, FL; Nickole (Marcus) Reeves; Nickie (Alexandra) Vera; Bradley (Devana) Ransom, Phillip (Nikki) Ransom, Antoine Ransom and Emily Ransom all of Augusta, FL; Dejannae Lang of Davie, FL, and Eric Hall Jr. of Key West, FL. A host of great grandchildren, great–great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Devoted Godchildren: Eric (Camilla) Brown Sr., Shelly (Aaron) Castillo of Key West, FL and best friend Sylvia Dean of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
