Jason Michael Barrera was born in Key West, Florida on May 19, 1981. On Friday, August 25, 2023 he left this earth and is now resting in peace.

Jason was loved by so many people and gave love, but he had a special love for his family and friends. He was always willing to help a friend in need. He was a sweet, spirited person with a charismatic personality, and you could always find him telling jokes and making people laugh and smile.

Jason was preceded in death by his father Laurence Manuel Barrera, aunt Linda Varela and his bonus father Franklin "Pint" Carey.

He is survived by his devoted and loving mother: Valerie Barrera; His son: Gage Alexander Barrera and Gage's mother Toni Walser; Grandmother: Madeline Morales; Grandfather: Miguel "Magoo" Morales; Brothers: Laurence Manuel Barrera II (Sandi) & Franklin "Popsie" Carey Jr (Mari who was like a sister); Sisters:  Angelina Barrera, Joy Y. Carey and Fanchon D. Smalls; Aunts: Anna Marie Rodriguez (Elmidio), Carolyn Myers, Bebe Barrera Clark, and Dolores Robertson. Uncles: Edward "Gabby" Curry Jr, (BethAnn), Joey Barrera (Sandy), and Fredy Varela;  Nieces: Carmanita Carey, Francella Carey, Miyah Carey, and Krystyna White; Nephews: DeAndre' Sharp, Cedric Moore, Quanzell Moore, Antwon Harris, Antonio Harris, Quamane Carey, DeVontshe Carey, Zentavious Carey, and Darron Barber; Cousins: Tobias Crimson, Sacred Myers, Ricky Myers, Beth Pellicier, Scott Pellicier, Freddy Varela, China Knowles, Natalie Machado, Lauren Judkins, Lindsay Barrera, James Leland, Renton Robertson, Doretha Simmons, Priscilla Sullivan, Georgette Robertson, and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
