George Way Plowman, known to family and friends as Way, 91, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died peacefully at his home on January 16, 2026.

Way was born on June 18, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Harry and Manuela (Johnson) Plowman. He was raised in Key West, Florida, he attended Key West High School and St. Leo's School in St. Leo, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University.

In 1973, he moved from Florida to Massachusetts where he worked for many years as an engineer at Digital Equipment. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army.

In later years, Way was reunited with Deanna, whom he had dated as a teenager in Key West. They were married in 2001 and moved to Hendersonville N.C.

A man of deep and abiding faith, Way was a devoted Christian who often described himself as a "prayer warrior." He was an active member at Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC, where his steady devotion and commitment to prayer reflected the foundation of his life.

Way was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Plowman, his daughter, Jennifer Plowman and a grandson, Mando Parra.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Deanna Archer Plowman; his son, Gregory Way Plowman (Maureen); his stepchildren, Janet Carbonell, John Carbonell (Diane), and Lori Carbonell Ryan.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley and Flynn Plowman, Jase and Jade Carbonell, Rachel Nadaskay, Grace Jones, Mark, Noah, Jacob, Stephen, and Christian Carbonell, Chandler and Jordan Ryan as well as 12 great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind a host of extended family and friends to cherish his memory.

A Home Going Service for Way will be held on Monday, January 26th at 2pm at Glad Tidings Church, 1209 United Street in Key West, Florida.

Burial will follow at the Key West City Cemetery.
