Obituary

Faustina America Rodriguez was known by her favorite name 'America'. She was born in Limorcar Matanzas, Cuba July 29, 1931.

She passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Palm Vista Health and Rehabilitation Center in Key West, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband Domingo Rodriguez, her parents Clara and Paulino Rodriguez, her brother Jose Rodriguez (Key West Brick and Tiles Company) and his wife Carmela Rodriguez.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews Clara and Ambrosio Lobo, Jose Humberto Neyra, Ryan and Justin Neyra, Acelia Plans, Mery and Antonio Martinez, Zayle and Dayrel Mayor, and Victoria and Michael Mayor.

The family gave America the love and attention that she needed. 'America' was a Housekeeper supervisor at the Atlantic Shores Hotel. Also, she was approved by the church. She was a famous seamstress of formal gowns, alterations of men suits, uniforms etc.

She was a faithful member of the Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 25th at 3:00 PM at the Basilica followed by a graveside at the Key West City Cemetery.
