Mccook
October 21, 1944 – December 3, 2023
Annette (Russell) McCook's Earthside suffering ended on December 3, 2023, with her beloved Buddy and Sonny by her side until the end. She was 79. At long last, she is reunited with the love of her life, Dr. Walter McCook, her husband since 1986 and her guardian angel since 1997.
Annette was born in Key West on October 21, 1944, to Vendaline (Watkins) Russell and Reginald R. Russell. She graduated from Key West High School in 1962 and resided in Key West for most of her life. Over the years, she worked at City Electric, Naval Air Station Boca Chica, J. Byrons, and took over Russell Monuments after her mother's passing. She enjoyed participating in Fleming Street Methodist Church, which later became part of Key West United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Annette was preceded in death by her brother, William Russell, sisters, Dr. Patricia McClendon and Marjorie Rosam, brothers-in-law, Elmore Rosam and Ben Saunders, cousin, Bonnie Berta, dear friend Betsy, and her cherished dogs, Mac and JR.
Annette is survived by her twin sister and loving caretaker, Jeannette Saunders, brother Robert (Jackie) Russell, nieces and nephews: Rita McCarty Miller, Pam Russell, Randy Rosam, Michelle Russell, Melanie (Jeff) Barnes, Lori (Mark) Weaver, Robert (Rhonda) Saunders, great nieces and nephews: CJ (Kris) and Corey (Mel) Wagoner, Cameron Piekarz, Colby, Griffin, and Dutch Saunders, Laiikn and Adlir Linseman, Justin, Leah, and Grace Barnes, and so, so many other special family members and friends—you know who you are because Annette made sure you knew you were loved.
Family and friends of Annette are invited to celebrate her memory with a service at Key West United Methodist Church, 600 Eaton Street, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8th. Thank you to our friends at Key West Mortuary for a worry-free experience with final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Annette's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
